Let me ask you a question:
Would you like to learn the picking techniques that guitar greats like Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Stevens and many more use, including some closely guarded techniques that can transform your playing?
Are you tired of learning from badly written tabs from the internet or amateurish YouTube videos?
Are you fed up with the rate of your progress and do you have the feeling that everybody else is overtaking you in their development as lead guitar players?
Is your wallet on a diet from buying yet another ‘internet course’ from a so-called ‘expert shredder’ with just tons of unrelated exercises that bore you to tears after the third day?
Trying To Figure It Out All On Your Own?
If you’ve ever tried to ‘figure it out’ all by yourself you will probably be answering one or more of the above questions with a big, fat YES. I know that I would.
Even though in the beginning I was having classical guitar lessons, I started teaching myself how to play the electric guitar after listening to Joe Satriani’s album ‘Flying in a blue dream’. At the time there was no internet (hard to believe, I know) and the only source were your own ears and a handful of books and VHS video tapes.
The books were great but had their limitations. The video tapes however, would allow me to ‘get access’ to my guitar heroes and study them ‘in depth’. Because now I could actually ‘see’ how a certain player would play a specific lick or riff. Many of these videos were good but unfortunately, some of these videos where more of a marketing vehicle than a useful guitar lesson - disappointing... and expensive!
A few years after ‘going it alone’ I was able to study guitar at the Munich Guitar Institute (MGI) in Germany, which was a great experience and eye-opener. And even though I studied with some great teachers, I still found videos and DVDs immensely helpful in my development as a player. And I also learned that lesser-known guys oftentimes had more to offer than ‘the big names’.
A Big 'A-ha' Moment
That’s one of the reasons why I decided to put together my own DVD - 'Taking The Lead - Picking Techniques and Strategies for Lead Guitar' - with the kind of stuff that I would have wanted all those years ago; combining fundamental techniques and solid strategies with interesting and sometimes uncommon applications as well as revealing the ‘little secrets’ that are usually never talked about. There is definitely more than one ‘a-ha’ moment on this DVD.
In fact, I still remember the moment I learned about 'Inside Picking'. When I was studying at the MGI, during a particular lesson I got stuck on a difficult lick. My teacher looked at me and said: "why don't you play this with inside picking?" "Inside what?" was my reply. Once he explained the concept a big light bulb lit up above my head. I'm sure that you will have those moments too when watching 'Taking The Lead'.
Become The Lead Guitarist You Want To Be
'Taking The Lead - Picking Techniques and Strategies for Lead Guitar' will help you become a more articulate lead guitar player by showing you several techniques and concepts that players like Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Al Di Meola, Steve Stevens and more use in their lead guitar work.
Some of these techniques are very closely guarded and 'Taking The Lead' takes them one step further and turns them into concepts so they can be applied to your existing licks.
For example, making just one simple change to your picking stroke and the way you cross the strings can reduce your effort by up to 30% and by using economy of motion you'll be able to play faster and with more precision.
Simply watch the DVD and follow along with the 66-page PDF e-booklet, one section at a time. Take the licks you've learned and apply them to your own songs or over a jam track. Then take the concepts and apply them to your own licks for total integration.
From one string scale ideas to full blown speed runs blazing across the fretboard, this superb DVD will add speed, dexterity and accuracy to your playing, while increasing your musical knowledge with an arsenal of power licks you can use in your every day playing.

WARNING: this DVD is not for every guitarist. It is designed for the intermediate to advanced guitarist - if you’ve only just started playing guitar this DVD is not yet for you.
Great guitarists like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai will tell you that, as guitar players, we are always students and never masters because once we stop learning we stop developing as artists. And stagnation will only produce boring, unexciting music.
That's why 'Taking The Lead - Picking Techniques and Strategies for Lead Guitar' is a great addition to any existing DVD collection and/or a great start to your very own library of guitar education materials.
If you teach guitar you can also use these concepts and techniques with your students as part of their lessons.
